In response to Aries, Matt posts in the mailbag one day that Aries is a total fake, despite his predictions, which Matt views as logical (for instance, even I could have guess Super Smash Bros. would be a launch title). Matt then goes on to say he has industry connections, and even they are in the dark about the Revo. I find it interesting that Aries talks about Matt's inside info, then Matt reinforces his industry connections. --- 98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. From: H3R3TIK | Posted: 7/6/2005 12:56:45 AM | Message Detail From: TriForceAgent | Posted: 7/5/2005 8:51:21 PM | Message Detail What's up with this? I got this off of the Broken Saints forums: "Because I work for a developer, I am connected to many different people who know more than I do. We are all waiting for E3 like little kids wait for Santa Claus. Once it gets here, the flood gates will be opened. There are many sites and magazines out there that know a whole lot about what's going on, but they can't reveal it yet. For instance, Matt from IGN has a lot of details on Silicon Knights as well as their game. He just can't tell you guys yet." So...you know but you can't tell us eh? Matt...what's up with that? And do you know this guy? Matt responds: Oh yes, Aries. For people who haven't been following the avalanche of rumors being spread over at the Broken Saints message boards, here is a quick recap: a poster named Aries alleges he is a developer with all sorts of inside Revolution and next-gen information, and he's been posting sizeable chunks of it on a daily or weekly basis. He's written pages on various subjects and up until recently I've done my best to avoid it, but then a helpful IGN message boarder conveniently put together all of Aries' comments in one tidy thread, and I checked it over. I guess lots of people have been waiting for me to comment on these posts and either qualify or disqualify the guy. So here it is. Everything he's said is true. Completely true. I can't believe he spilled it all already! If you immediately stopped reading and raced to the message boards to post a "Matt Confirms!!!11" topic, you've really made a jackass out of yourself. Well done. If, on the other hand, you've continued reading, even better. Honestly, this Aries guy is a fake. But I have to give to him: he's a pretty good one. He's definitely on top of the industry and some of his predictions -- guesses, even -- are logical. He's made an accurate guess or two about certain things not related to Revolution. And he remains just vague enough in most cases to perpetuate his credibility. But he goes too far. The simple truth is that nobody in the industry, except for possibly Satoru Iwata, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda, could know as much about Revolution as this guy claims he does. I don't care if he worked for Nintendo of America for 30 years. Nobody at Nintendo of America, including the highest-ranking executive, has the kind of access Aries professes he does. Nobody. And I have enough contacts in the development industry to know that advanced Revolution hardware is not in high circulation. I mean, some of the biggest publishers out there have yet to receive any information on the platform. Trust me on this. Some of these outlandish claims Aries makes are just bogus. And that's really the biggest giveaway. I'm sure some of you would love to believe the guy. He makes Nintendo look like gold. But don't. Wait a couple weeks for the real deal. maybe skiesofwonder/lost_revolution is this real deal matt promised us? Didn't SOW say that in Matt's reply, Matt would deny it all, but give a clue at the same time? Maybe the "wait the 2 weeks for the real deal" is the clue... --- "Michael Jackson would be a great advocate of the DS's "Touching is Good" slogan."-humbajoe From: Zelda | Posted: 7/6/2005 1:21:29 AM | Message Detail OK though I don't post much here I read these pages several times a day browsing through the Revolution news and speculation. However every single day at lease one person comes on claiming he/she knows something about the Revolution without giving any bit of proof. My question to you guys is why do you believe any of them? It's obviously that none of these people seriously know anything. Why do you guys think they know something? I could easily pretend I know something regarding the Revolution and I could claim to work at Nintendo. Would you believe me? How about if I make a convincing article citing large words. Pretending to be close to the Revolution project. I bet everything here is fake. The best fake so far is the ON which still makes me wonder and yes I know that Nitendo's Reggie said it was fake as well as Pablo Belmonte who claims to have made it in 5 days by himself and yes I read the recent 1up article. So yes I am informed. So why do you guys believe these fakes? From: speedingpillow | Posted: 7/6/2005 8:43:38 AM | Message Detail You guys are really smart to figure this all out. I will tell you when he replys again. That was me. Here's the email I sent you. "Yes, I'm a fake. I'm teh fu210n dr4g0n over at GameFAQs. I was seeing how easy it was to fake the fact that I had information. I've recieved some other emails as wel, so I've determined that it's pretty easy. Anybody could have made an account like this, and it would probably have fooled many people, if it wasn't for SoW saying that I was a fake. However, as much as I want SoW to be "real," I still think he's a fake. Too many coincidences. And if he /is/ a fake, he probably has some friends who could help him out by, you guessed, making an account like this and "being Matt." All I needed to do was look up his last name and make an account. Anyway, since I'm not the Matt that SoW was talking about, I may say things that he doesn't want to be said. It's just too easy to fake these things, and you shouldn't believe everything you hear." Emphasis on that last sentence. BTW, I only revealed myself because SoW (must've been in an AIM [which I don't have {IRC is better}] as it's not in here) told RE-master that I was a fake. --- 98% of the Gamefaqs population doesn't know what they're talking about.
